Questions

Is this a printed book you mail to me?

No. Nothing ships. It is a PDF and an EPUB you download as soon as you pay, and you keep both files. Print any page at home if you want it in the barn or the kitchen on paper.

Does it give recipes for home-made baits or sprays?

No. It starts every problem by identifying the pest and keeping it out. Where a pesticide is the right tool, it names the type of registered product and sends you to the label, because the label is the law. It gives no recipe for a home-made poison, bait or spray.

Can I trap or kill the animal that is taking my hens?

It depends on the animal and your state. Hawks and owls are federally protected and may not be trapped, killed or harassed without federal authority. Trapping, moving and killing other wild animals is set by each state, and many states do not let you move a trapped animal. The book explains the rules, what you can do instead, and how to reach your state wildlife agency before you act. It is not legal advice.

I have kept chickens and a garden for years. Is this too basic for me?

It starts from the basics so a beginner can follow it, but it does not stop there. Every entry is labelled by how well it is known: checked against a named source, common practice, history, or varies by where you live. The tables give the numbers, such as mesh sizes, burial depths and fence heights, with the source beside them.
